The largest member of the hickory family is the Pecan. Prefers rich, moist soils. Tall straight trunk with symmetrical, broadly oval crown. The sweet edible nuts of Pecan are favored by wildlife and people.

Native pecans, hickories and related varieties do not exhibit the vigorous top growth seen in other RPM varieties. They do, however, develop the dense root mass and always "catch up" with larger seedlings within a few years.
