Ninebark

Physocarpus opulifolius

Ninebark blooms for weeks in summer with clusters of white flowers. In fall, its seed clusters are enjoyed by birds. Exfoliating mature bark peels back to form '9s', which gives the shrub its common name.  The textured bark provides additional winter interest.
